Quite commonly known to many as "The Monkey Park"
Established in the 1820's, the Launceston City Park is now an important part of cultural life in Launceston and also a heritage park. It includes many gardens and also Monkey Island, that house the famous Macaque Monkeys. The monkeys are separated from visitors by a glass wall and small moat. The park also has a few memorials and statues. The most prominent building at the park it the Albert Hall.
Festivale is a popular event held at the park every February.
